Are your thumbs worn out from typing the same messages over and over to the people texting you? Use templates to save and send that important message in just a couple of clicks.
(These are also referred to by some as macros or canned responses.)
Add a new template
How's how to create a template:
- Login to your String account
- Click on the phone number you want to use in the left sidebar menu.
- Click on the Templates section
- Click the icon to create a new template
- Edit the Title of the Template
- Add a message in the text box. Note that you can "Add first name merge tag" which will automatically apply their name to the message if the recipient is saved in your contacts. The message can be a maximum of 670 characters.
- Click to add personalization fields. This will add the first name of contacts you have saved who will receive the message.
- Click Done when complete
Edit a template
To edit a template:
- Click on the template in the Templates page
- From here you can edit the title and the content of the message
- Click Done when complete
Organizing Templates
You can click and drag templates to arrange and organize them. Order them by most frequently used to save yourself some time when sending messages.
Deleting Templates
To delete a template, simply mouse over it and click the icon to delete it.

- Unsubscribe/Stop - If you often receive unsolicited text messages from companies, save yourself a few clicks by creating an "Unsubscribe" or "Stop" template that can be quickly applied and sent.
