Mass messages and group chats are similar in that you can send messages to multiple contacts or numbers at one time. Now let's talk about how they differ:
- Mass Message - Send a single message to multiple recipients, initiating separate conversations with each of them. If they respond to the message, what follows will be a 1:1 conversation with that contact. Learn more about sending mass messages here. Currently, the limit for the number of recipients for mass messaging is set to 500. There is the possibility that the maximum number could increase in the future. You can also batch messages if needed. For example, if you have 1000 recipients, you could potentially batch into 2 mass messages.
- Group Chat - Send a single message to multiple recipients, initiating a single conversation with all of the contacts. Any responses will be seen by the entire group. Learn more about initiating a group chat here.
