You have a telephone number with another carrier and would like to use it on your String account. This means that you need to port the number to String. There are a few things that we will need from you in order to make this happen.
- Your telephone number - We need to know the number that you wish to port.
- Copy of Bill - Send us a copy of your telephone bill from your current carrier dated within the last 30 days. If your carrier doesn't provide you with a copy of bill, you can instead send us a screenshot of your online account that shows your name, telephone number, and account information.
- Account number and PIN - Your current carrier should be able to provide you with an account number and PIN code. We will need these in order to port your telephone number.
Once you've gathered this information, you're ready to start the porting process.
Steps to initiate your port
- Sign in to your String account
- Click on Add New Inbox within your String account.
- You will see an option to add a new number, Transfer an existing number or Hosted Messaging
- Transfer an existing numbers means that you are porting both the voice and sms service for your telephone number to String. It's a full port.
- Hosted messaging means that you are activating ONLY the texting for the number. Voice will remain with your current carrier.
- Next we will take you through 4 steps to complete your port request:
- Check Number - Enter your number to ensure that it can be ported to String.
- Details - This is where you enter your Account Number, PIN, Business name and address and upload a copy of your bill in PDF format. You will then enter your name and we will use that to generate your Letter of Authorization for porting. If you are porting a wireless number, be sure you submit your porting PIN, not your account PIN.
- Plan - Select your String plan
- Review - Review your port request and submit.
Our team will take it from there working to complete your porting request.
