You're at your favorite coffee shop enjoying the freedom of working from, well anywhere really, but there's one problem. The wifi is down! What do you do? Go home to your trusty hi-speed internet on this beautiful day? Don't fret, just use cellular data to make those calls!
When wifi or cellular data is a concern switching your call settings between VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and Callback Mode in your Voice Settings allows you to stay connected.
You can switch from VoIP (wifi) to cellular data through any 10-digit US phone number. When you place a call in your String account, String will first place a call to that number and then connect you with the party you are trying to reach. The recipient will only see your String phone number.
To access your call settings
- Login to your String account
- Click on the phone number you want to use in the left sidebar menu.
- Click on Voice Settings
- Select Use Callback Mode
- Enter a 10-digit phone number. Click Save
