We understand that there are so many companies and applications out there that require a telephone number to register or want to send you a text message as a secondary form of authorization.
It's important to know that all String telephone numbers are classified as Wireline. You may also hear this referred to as VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) or Landline. A typical cell or mobile phone number is classified as Wireless.
Many providers, especially financial institutions, will not send text messages to wireline numbers. If you are wanting to use our service as a replacement for your wireless number, we recommend that you reach out to any business that regularly sends text messages to you to ensure that they support wireline numbers. There are many that do and many that don't and we wouldn't want you to miss out on any important messages.
For a complete list of providers we know are either supported or not support, please refer to the following article on the NumberBarn Help Center. We do our best to keep this information as current as possible:
Does NumberBarn support SMS from various websites and banks?
Finally, keep in mind that certain companies may allow you to authenticate with an alternate email address address or through a telephone call. These options are worth exploring.
If you find that your number will not work with a certain provider, please leave a comment on this article and we'll be sure to add it to our list.
